  • This includes five gala evening concerts at the beautiful Cherubino Winery and three morning Concert Conversations, one of which will take place at the Leeuwin Estate Art Gallery, followed by a delicious lunch.

  • Five nights’ accommodation in the relaxing 5-star Cape Lodge with breakfast. The standard tour package comes with either a Lodge King or Garden View room with the option to upgrade to a Garden Deluxe or a Lake View Suite (details below under Accommodation).

  • Four gourmet meals throughout the week at the finest restaurants in the Margaret River, all paired with local award-winning wines. The Festival musicians will join for the welcome and farewell dinners.

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Umberto Clerici

After a career spanning more than 20 years as a gifted cello soloist and orchestral musician, Umberto Clerici is widely regarded for his seamless transition to the podium now as an acclaimed conductor. The 2024 season will mark Clerici’s second as Chief Conductor of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in addition to being a frequent guest with several leading orchestras.

Umberto began his career as a virtuoso cellist making his solo debut at the age of 17 performing Haydn’s D Major cello concerto in Japan. After years of performing on the stages of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, Umberto took up the position as Principal cello of the Teatro Regio di Torino following which he was Principal Cello of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra from 2014 to 2021. It was in Sydney in 2018 that Umberto made his conducting debut with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House. Following a swift trajectory of prestigious conducting engagements, Umberto is now in high demand with the major symphony orchestras throughout Australia and New Zealand.

As a cellist, Umberto is beloved by audiences worldwide, having performed internationally as a soloist at New York’s Carnegie Hall, Vienna’s Musicverein, the great Shostakovich Hall of St Petersburg, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, the Salzburg Festival and is one of only two Italians to have ever won a prize for cello in the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition.

ACCOMMODATION

Cape Lodge

Offering luxury accommodation in the Margaret River wine region, Cape Lodge is surrounded by its own vineyard and is likened to staying at a private country estate, yet with all the trappings and facilities of a world-class private boutique hotel.

The lodge has 22 secluded rooms, with the superb Cape Lodge Restaurant - long regarded as one of the great dining rooms in Western Australia, offering seasonal menus showcasing the best of Margaret River’s produce sourced from local farms, and the freshest of seafood from nearby pristine oceans. Cape Lodge sits on 40 acres of manicured parkland and ornamental lakes and has its own 8-acre vineyard.

Upgrade options are available as follows:

  • Upgrade to a Garden Deluxe Suite for AUD$650 for the full duration of your stay (allocation exhausted).
    These much larger Garden Deluxe Suites (55m2) feature king-size or twin bed options, an ensuite and an open plan lounge space.

  • Upgrade to a Lake View Suite for AUD$1,525 for the full duration of your stay.
    Located by the brook and natural landscaping, the lake View Suites (55-70m2) are bright and airy, and feature a king-sized bedroom, a luxurious ensuite and a spacious lounge that has direct access to a lakeside courtyard or balcony.
